WTB 620 fuel tank Portland/ Gorge area

If the '78 has the frame mounted tank like the '79, a tank from an '83 720 should work, and it has the return line, plus another 1/2" vent line directly to the filler neck (the 720 doesn't have the small vent/evap tank of the 620 ). I point this out because the '83 tanks are available new on ebay for about $100. You just have to hack off the welded-in nuts on the front flange of the tank (because the frame mount already has them) and they should match right up.

 

I'm basing this on the fact I did a swap on my '73 from a bed mounted tank to a frame mounted one. I used the frame mounts from a '79 and matched the '83 tank to them before I welded the mounts (all the bolt holes were a perfect match).

 

Also, I had to notch out one of the bed supports for the tank to clear on my '73 because the '83 tank is either a little taller or the different mounts just hold it up higher... but I'm assuming the 78/79 beds already accommodate that (?)
