anthonydeb
ok i looked everywere and it seemed so hard to do a alternator swap in my datsun iv got a 69 510 4dr with a L20b outa a 76 620 pickup after seeing some pretty crazy swap setups and custome brkates i whent down and bought a GM single wire alternator drilled out the tapped hole on it and it bolted right up to the stock mount on the engine used 1 washer to space it so the belt was straiter, and hooked up the one wire and havent had a problem with it after daily driving it for 2 weeks now. just though id let people know how easy it really is. Pennvalleydimer
If you use the 3 wire GM you can retain the warning lamp operation and the alternator is about half the cost. Side note, if you rev your L motor up a lot you can damage the bearings and or brushes. Those GM alternators turn a lot slower on a V8 due to a much larger diameter pulley. Jegs sells an underdrive pulley I recommend using.... http://www.jegs.com/p/JEGS-Performance-Products/JEGS-Billet-Alternator-V-Belt-Pulley/1943934/10002/-1 Quote Link to comment
