Spacer size?

So I've almost got all the parts to make a swap from automatic to dogleg 5 speed, and the last pieces (that I'm aware of) I need are some spacers for the cross member. I've read about this from several different sources and only two I've seen actually mentioned dimensions for the spacers and I didn't understand one of them and the other mentioned 1" but I didn't get any further dimensions. I know I'm asking to be spoon fed, but I need to be able to get this without sizing the transmission up a ton. I don't have personal work space and the place I go to pretty much coincides it's hours with my work hours, so that leaves me in there on Saturdays with no guarantee that I can use the lifts. I appreciate any advice on the swap as well. I know it's straight forward but I've never even unbolted a transmission before...anything can help.
