How to match clutch collar to pressure plate?

Ok guys, rookie move here. During my recent motor/tranny swap, (L20B with single DCOE, mild cam, A87 peanut, and 280Z 5 speed into my 520) I seem to have mixed up a plethora of parts that I had within my grasp, bolted the wrong combination together, and consequently, will need to pull my motor again. Bummer, lesson learned. After the fact, I read up here on this fine forum, and figured out from all of you fine folks, that there were (are) multiple sizes for clutch collar lengths and corresponding pressure plate heights. My problem is this: when we were assembling the clutch, TO bearing, collar, etc., I had at my disposal a couple of TO bearings (with collar) that came in a box of spare parts from the guy I got the motor from, and a couple of 280z engines, trannys, clutches, TO collars etc. to pick parts from. Not knowing they were any different (oops) I threw in the bearing/collar that spun the best. The pressure plate I am using is the one that came with the motor I bought from some guy off craigslist, and I honestly don't know what pressure plate that originally was intended for either. He probably used the truck one, but I'm not 100% sure on that either. The knowledge that I have gleaned from reading the forums here is to keep the collar/pressure plate together and you will be fine, but my question to you all now is, how do you match them up after the fact? When I pull the motor back out, I'll measure the height of the pressure plate and the length of the collar that's in there, I have lots of parts to choose from to mix and match.

I have been to this link:

While this shows the various lengths\heights of the parts in question, it still seems vague to me which goes with which. My plan is to pull the motor again this weekend and install the appropriate combo. I won't know for sure what I have in there until then.

Oh, one other option. At my disposal is another Z motor/tranny that I might be allowed to cannibalize. Should I just take the flywheel, clutch, collar from that? I don't honestly know if that one is a 240, 260 or 280 motor....

Thanks for any help you guys can be in this, my moment of need

Dave
