WTB 510 Fuse Box Screw

Looking for the clip/screw (not sure, mine is missing) that holds the fuse box cover down onto the fuse box. Anyone have an extra one or know of an easy way to attach mine? TIA.

It's a plastic snap screw thing that always ends up broken. Yours probably just

broke and fell out.

 

A solid redesign I came up with is to tap 3/8" SAE coarse threads in the plastic hole

and use a 3/8" wing-bolt (like a wingnut, except a bolt). Use a fat rubber o-ring

or rubber washer under the head to hold torque against the fragile plastic cover.

 

I think the existing hole is oversize for a 3/8" tap, so the threads cut will be

shallow. Mine were deep enough for the light finger-tight torque you use

for this. There may be a little ridge you need to file off at the top of the hole.

7/16" SAE coarse would produce deeper threads but is a less common size.

If you go to a cycle gear they have plastic rivets for fairings for street bikes or dirt bikes. They stock 6mm and 8mm what you want is the 8mm only thing that sucks is that they come in a pack of like 6 and they run about $6.00 but its not a bad idea to keep extras for yourself or a homie.
