Who Built The Best L-Series Engine ?

I was looking through some adds on the internet and I seen some badd combonations, The engines were built and running strong with not that much money put into them. the main part that I seen was the time and effort. most of us old skool datsun guys forgot about building where it started from.. Any feed back on good l-series combos as far as pistons,cams,cranks,heads,carbs e.t.c.
