  1. if this is a stock datsun muffler you should see a gain but as to how much not sure as there are other variables but just a switch to something more free flow will usually gain. if you don't want it to be loud just use a superturbo. cleaner looking and under the radar.

alright thank you my girlfriends dad just bought one for his sons 88 ranger today and i was planning on goin to a shop and gettin a new exhaust system but dont really have the money for that and his truck sounds really good with his new cherrybomb so i was pretty stoked to find one for my car.

  2. Performance upgrades are a compromise. Any gains are off set by losses elsewhere. Carried to an extreme the car becomes un-driveable on the street and only runs well if racing. The trick is to make modest improvements that give a better driving experience (performance) but have as little affect on things like easy starting, idling and stop and go driving in town.

Above all make sure the engine is properly in tune and adjusted. New ignition parts where required. Might as well have the full amout of power your car was made to give.

Well you have a fuel injected L24 so there's no adding a larger carb to it. If all rubber parts and hoses are in good shape and correctly connected I wouldn't mess with it.

If your exhaust system is rusty/worn out you could replace with a custom one that is no more than 1/4" larger. This is expensive for just a few hp unless you are changing the pipes anyway.

I would guess the best bang for the buck is a mild street cam. Easy enough for the average person to change with some hand tools. You didn't mention if you have an automatic or standard. Resist the urge to go big on a cam. Nothing else on the car will make a motor fall on it's face faster than too much cam. 15-20 degrees of extra duration and increased lift to no more than .450" should wake it up without needing a valve spring change. There are some here who would know more about the L six than me.

    alright for sure thank u.

  3. This is rather vague. High wear items like exhaust systems, brakes, suspension, steering are best bought new. Midas or Speedy can bend you up a system, perhaps a custom muffler shop. Rims can also be bought new and avoids the chance of being old, over used, damaged or in poor visual shape. You probably want new tires so get tires and rims that match. (and fit!)

Things like drive train parts (heads, intakes, carbs, transmissions, differentials etc.) and body parts can be found here or craig's list quite often.

Also fill out your profile location... this helps when looking for or selling parts as a local may be more willing to ship a part if you are close. If you have a Datsun post an on line picture of it. here's how

thank u ya i was thinking best way to get an exhaust would be to go to a shop and ive looked on craigslist for parts but nothing really comes up for a 79 datsun and ya i was gonna take some pics of it and upload them in a lil bit. i was wondering i eventually want to save up and buy an intake system but if i just bought a cold air intake filter would i gain any horsepower.

  4. depends on what you are looking for. lots of times you can find parts on here or the 510realm or dimequarterly and craigslist or even ebay.

alright thank u i have checked on craigslist and found some stuff first thing im looking to get is probably an exhaust or a set of rims.
