  1. look, this car was shot at a car show and posted about in the 200sx's unite posting: :) from thread:::: don't have any details or know who owns it but thought the 200SX needs to be added to this thread.
  2. Came across this ad this morning... beautiful car. http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/cto/3523337991.html
  3. yes please! i hunt ebay for those daily. and for the "sunny california" rear emblem. i'm thinking of having one made....
  4. Haha, you're right! Thanks. got the car that way.. Still looking for side emblems also...
  5. so I have had plans to do body/paint on my wagon since the day I bought her; but I finally got fed up with it's tired, oxidized paint, and having to stare at it out my window every day. I moved across the country recently into an apartment (no garage), but I figured I could probably do something to improve it's appearance. Without a buffer, I headed down to the auto parts store and picked up a 4.00 tub of turtle wax rubbing compound, and a 10.00 bottle of maguires ultimate. I spent a few hours hand applying the heavier, more abrasive turtle wax; it improved the shine, but not nearly enough to warrant the amount of hand sanding I did to apply it. I took the 210 down to the car wash, gave her a wash, and headed back home to do the maguires.... here's a photo I snapped out my front door a couple days ago; of the tired, old paint. If you look along the base of the doors, you can see how the paint that so luckily avoided the sun remained much more intact... And, after.... I definitely could have spent more time buffing it out; and with a buffer, it could have been even better, but for a 14 dollar total investment, and 4 hours, I couldn't be happier. the 700$ goon definitely has some irreparable damage from the sun; but the patina of the old car doesn't look too bad, once it's shined up. Hard to justify a paint job that costs more than the car... the new finish presents the 30 years of shopping cart dings, previously hidden by it's matte, neglected exterior... still need to strip the clear off those lips.... as never having tried the Maguire's ultimate before; as far as bang for your buck goes, this is the best 14 dollars i've ever spent improving my vehicle's appearance. I highly suggest it to anyone who's considering a repaint, and don't want to shell out half the price of your old datto.
  6. if i remember correctly, some of the information cast into the backside of the wheel read with a number ending in 87... so maybe they're from the late 80's. they definitely appear to be an enkei sports clone, thanks tristingrind, for giving me one more bit of info about these beauties.
  7. They're definitely western wheel co. It's stamped in a couple places on the reverse side of the wheel; and the 3 center caps I got all say western on them. There's some model insignia, but it's all numbers and letters, and after searching around using them, I realized people don't really reference these old western rims like that when they're talking about them on forums. come to mention it, i really should have written that shit down before i mounted them..... :geek:
  8. Yesterday, i drove out to a rural suburb of portland and picked up these wheels off some redneck kid on craigslist... I gave him 200 bucks for them; he said they came off a 240z, and I figured for the price, I'd check them out. They're old western wheel 14x6 6 spoke mags, but surprisingly I have found zero info about this wheel, and only ONE picture online so far, also with no info. I cleaned em up a little bit, and set out this morning to try and visit the one or two used tire shops/junkyards in the area open on the first. I was initially looking for a nice set of 185/65/14's, but I got lucky (you could say) after a few hours of digging, and found some 80% 185/60/14's for the rear (for 15 bucks a piece), and two near-new 185/55/14's for the front (for 30 bucks a piece). Who'd have ever thought I would find a pair of 55 series 14 inch tires for 60 bucks right down the street from home. the egyptian dudes I met at the tire shop balanced, and mounted them on my 210 wagon for free. pretty fuckin cool. All in all, 290 bucks; plus the gas to go get them. I think i'll probably get that money back out of selling the 13x5.5 appliance slot mags I had on the car before, with good tires. These wheels are eventually going onto my KP starlet when it's outta the shop; I've got some 13x6 carroll shelby CSS reverse mesh wheels that would suit this wagon a little better i think... I didn't want to stagger the tire sizes; they only had a pair of the 55's and the 60's were 15 bucks each so I couldn't argue. I'll be getting a little sideways every now and then in the starlet :) and I'll be replacing the slightly bigger rear tires soon enough with some 55's. but i snapped a couple photos of them on the 210, to try and solve this mystery. check it out! I shot some before and after photos. (the 700$ goon still needs body/paint, obviously)
  9. haha, for sure. well, the story continues; after a day or so of running better than ever, she shut down completely, and for good. the starter had plenty of power, and when the engine was running it was great, but i have no ignition again, this time after a new cap, rotor, coil, plugs, and wires. I had exhausted my weak amount of knowledge, and sent her via an AAA tow to a datsun shop in clackamas. i wouldn't have except i have a KP61 starlet, and IT'S also in the shop getting major valve work done, rendering me carless. The mechanic, Jock, also does a spring perch mod on the 210 to lower it for a good price, so I figured I'd just send the poor wagon down there for a slight drop and a fix. should be back anyday now, i have a feeling its nothing too major; just a diagnosis I couldn't do :(
  10. update: I think i've figured it out. Replaced the fuel pump and filter; It improved for a couple days, but eventually led me to break down again. I am super busy, and paid a buddy to put the fuel pump in while I was at work, and the damn connections were so loose it wasn't pulling fuel into the engine. Borrowed some tools from a cafe, tightened everything up, and got it home. Woke up this morning, looked under the hood again and noticed my pre-exhaust hose was completely severed; replaced that, replaced the plugs/wires, and the car drives better than it ever has; and it fires right up.
  11. like i said. the problems i described in the first post weren't nearly as severe as they are now; and i felt I should repost this in the engine forum, and not the b310 forum. whichever is clever. my bad
  12. Hello everyone, If this has been discussed in an earlier topic, my apologies in advance. So, my 1979 Datsun 210 Wagon (in signature) and I have been battling her slight loss of power since the day I bought the car a couple months ago. What started out as a tiny, nearly unnoticeable hesitation when starting from a stop, has blossomed into full blown intermittent losses of power, stranding me on the road randomly. Every time this happens I wonder if the car will start again. Sometimes it won't start for 30 minutes, and sometimes it won't skip a beat and drive without a single problem for 15 or 20 minutes afterwards. It seems to have a loss of power ONLY in the low rev range. if I can get the car up to speed (praying to god), it appears that it would run through an entire fuel tank on the interstate with no problems. The gap in hesitation increased, until it took pumping the gas and shifting into neutral on the auto tranny to get the car to stay running. Today, it's broken down 4 times; the same day i replaced it's leaky fuel pump with a brand new one, and I barely got the car home. I had to run every stop light for 5 miles. since i bought the car, I have sprayed a compressed carb cleaner directly into the carb, I've ran two bottles of seafoam, checked the fuel filter, and replaced the fuel pump; so I am fairly certain that it's a carb issue. I posted about this a few weeks ago in the 210 forum, but the problem went away a bit and I was driving other cars. I blew up a built 4k starlet that I have and am sitting, waiting for a 1350 dollar repair while the 210 is my only other ride, currently. Anyone who can help me or had similar problems will be my sovereign savior, as I've had it up to here with the car, and I don't have a third vehicle right now. I live in Portland, Oregon if any of yous are experts :) thanks guys, been reading ratsun a long time before i had this car, but this is my first datsun and I just want to keep her on the road. (PS: What are my options for aftermarket carb, will a weber 32/36 run well?)
  13. Hey! If you have a working carb for a 79 210 wagon and a fuel pump you'll save me a lot of money! was going to drop her off on monday. please reply if you haven't left yet! thanks! evan
  14. i've read here and there that you can modify the spring perches?
