  1. Done. It was masked off before it was painted, and wire brushed before it was masked.
  2. Gave the starter a quick and dirty cleanup, inspect and repaint. It worked great before, so I had no reason to give it a total rebuild. Same as the alternator, just a cleanup, some new hardware, a new belt, and a splash of paint. Ignore the painted spark plugs, I've got new ones, of course.
  3. Buddy of mine is a fancy schmancy photog guy, and came by the shop a few weeks ago, to snap some pics of the Patrol. Finally got them tonight, so figured I'd post a few here.
  4. Funny how that works, isn't it? Never seen or heard of one, then one pops up locally, so I buy it. Same week I buy mine, 14 more pop up in the same city. I should have bought lotto tickets instead of wasting money on an old Patrol. hahaha Seems most of those trucks are US imports though, not original Canadian units.
  5. Thanks. I think unless you're in Australia or South America, these things are rare. This is the only one I've ever seen in the flesh in Canada.
  6. Took the last of the front end of the body off today. Also drained and removed the rad. Tomorrow I roll it outside for a major pressure washing. Plan for this coming weekend is to lift the engine off the frame, and begin to paint and detail the driveline and frame.
  7. Yeah, I sent an email to Rod, he replied this morning, so we'll be setting something up in the next week or 2. Figure if the price is fair, and I can get a decent tub, anything else I pull off is gravy.
  8. Hey Merlin, I'm sure you didn't look tooooo closely, but did you happen to notice any 69's, that are worth snagging for parts? I sure could use a nicer floor section, and/or a better tub. I might have to call him and go have a look. Did he seem reasonable on pricing for a parts truck?
  9. If someone buys the entire lot, and decides to part it out, I may be looking for a nicer tub than my truck has.Besides that, I don't need much of anything. I've heard mention of this Ross at Sports Imports. He's not the same guy from White Rock Sports and Imports, is he? Down on King George Highway at Crescent Road? I sure hope not. :(
  10. More body removal progress today. So far into it now, I think I'll just keep on going. Here you can see part of the floor repair that the previous owner began. His repairs made body removal into more work than it should have been. And by the way, I lifted the firewall off the truck by myself. I don't suggest that to anyone else. hahaha
  11. Thanks. It's basically made from rusty Japanese Lego. If it wasn't so simple to tear down and rebuild, I wouldn't have saved it.
  12. Mine was fastened with nuts and bolts, not captured nuts. They all came off quite nicely. Broke one screw in the back door though, and I have to deal with about 10 broken ones in the front inner fenders.
  13. Got the roof off this afternoon. That wasn't a fun job, but it had to be done. Windshield folded down.
  14. Not wasting any time on this project, I started taking it apart to dig into the firewall tonight. With a long weekend coming up, I plan to spend some quality time in the shop. Plan is to have the firewall off, and everything pressure washed from the tub forward. Engine, trans, T case, frame, front diff, suspension, etc. Once ALL the mud, grime and shit is off, I can figure out where to go from there, and get it ready for it's new firewall. Oh, and my gas tank is all done now. Just need to clean up the level sender, and make a new gasket to bolt it back in. This is POR15 fuel tank repair kit inside, with POR15 black on the outside.
  15. Poured the POR15 tank sealer in tonight. I've followed the direction TO THE LETTER, so hopefully all this hard work and patience will pay off with a nice clean, rust free and shiny gas tank! Tried to take pics, but they really don't work worth a shit inside a gas tank. Buddy of mine came to the shop and fired off a TON of nice pro quality shots of the truck the other day. Should result in some lovely oics coming soon!
