I have a 1971 521 pick up truck that has a very solid body and frame. Typical small dents here and there for a 40+ year old truck. Small areas of surface rust but very easy fix. Color is original beige (vanilla cream color) but previous owner painted it a primer gray. It runs very strong and it has 90% new engine parts along with a new fuel tank. This truck also came with air conditioning although the compressor was taken out by previous owner. I will send you pictures by tonight. Truck is located in San Diego, California. Thanks. Anyone else on the "color"?

Hey guys, been getting alot of feedback about the truck. Thanks for that! I will be selling the truck as a whole. I think I plan to re-paint it its "Original" color which is a beige color. Does anyone know "THE" exact name? It's NOT white. It's more of a vanilla/beige color. What color would the tailgate letters "DATSUN" be? Also, I just put a electric fuel pump, clear glass fuel filter, new fuel lines in the engine bay and a new tachometer. Thanks for looking.

Thanks EVERYONE for the input! The tranny is strong and smooth just have more play on the shifter between gears than normal. For example, when I have it in 4th gear the shifter can be moved from side to side about 4 inches. I don't have the time to weld or send parts to be welded or any other modifications. I think I'll just use the tranny i have in it and look for another 4speed when the current one goes out. Thanks again!

Hey guys, Got the truck out of the shop and runs great! Got another new starter (Bosch) the other one went bad; probably a cheap brand put in by previous owner! Also, new electrical wiring in the engine bay, new NOS fuel sending unit, brake lamp lights working now and new battery. Another $475 into the truck; currently my daily driver. Any takers on the truck for $3000 obo. I can deliver the truck to you for additional cost up to 1500 miles which would be an extra $995 for gas and the flat bed. I'm just getting to know these Datsun 521's. My truck is in the shop and I was told that the shifter assembly connecting to the transmission needs replacement. The shifter does have alot of play but the gears go in very smooth and tranny pulls strong. Would be nice to have that extra 5th gear for the highway. Does anyone know if I can pretty much bolt on a 5spd tranny to my exisiting L16 engine from a 240z or another car without any modifications? The shop where I have my truck wants to charge $700 to fix my tranny. I think I'd rather swap out the tranny and put a 5spd in it. Would be a nice little upgrade. Can anyone help, thanks.

Still here with the 71' 521. I'm currently driving it daily from home to work. The truck runs great and strong! I think I will only sell it whole if anyone is interested in it. Currently in the shop getting more work done on it e.g. electrical system, new transmission shifter bushings, new fuel sending unit, adjustment on the choke cable and door seals. There are ALOT of parts on the engine that are brand new: fuel pump, starter, NOS fuse box, distributor, cap and rotor, radiator with original tanks, water pump, thermostat, Bosch ignition coil, balast resistor etc, etc. I can give you a detail list ONLY SERIOUS buyers.
