  1. Hello All, does anyone have a recommendation for an AC compressor rebuild shop? My 1980 720 L20B AC compressor is bad and I would like to have it rebuilt. I posted in the 720 Forum and got some good advice but I thought I would put out the request in the general Forum in hopes that someone has a lead. thanks

    AC compressor

When I bought the truck the AC was not cooling. I tried to charge the system and it began to blow cool air. After a few minutes it stopped cooling. I removed the hoses and checked for a clog by blowing compressed air through the tubing. When I reconnected everything it blew cool for another minute before making a loud racket and then blowing hot air again. I found a compressor at a Pull a Part but it was on a Nissan Z instead of the L20B so the pulleys do not align. I removed the compressor and the clutch and bearing seemed ok to my untrained eye. There was rust in the casing. The compressor seems to build pressure when turned my hand (suction on the intake and pressure out with your thumb covering the ports). Since it was building pressure at such low RPM I thought maybe that the seals were bad?

I had planned to start using the R135. Can you use the new stuff in the old compressors? Do you know if the compressor that you have is good? what are you asking for it? thanks

    AC compressor

Hello All, my 1980 L20B 720 AC compressor died on me. What are my best options to replace/repair? I am striking out looking for a replacement part number C3061. Are there other makes/models that work? Any recommendations for shops that rebuild these? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
  5. I am missing the entire pulley, thanks
  6. Hello All, I have accumulated a few old Hitachi/Datsun radios over the years and would like to get them repaired. Any recommendations for a shop in the US that is reliable? thanks
  7. thanks very much. This part has been discontinued or not available in the listings that I have found. Do you know if another pulley will work?
  8. I am looking for the pulley needed for my 1980 L20B 720 AC compressor. I may not be searching the right Key Words? Is the pulley specific for the motor or the model year? Will other pulleys work? thanks
  9. thanks, I am just using this as a donor. I am building a '77 and needed some parts. I know how hard it is to find parts for these so I was hoping to be able to separate the rear body metal. With my luck, the moment I send this to the scrapper I will have a rear fender bender and need the metal..... lol
  10. Good evening All, I am stripping this F10 for all it's worth but cannot figure out how to remove the rear panel skins without just cutting the body into pieces. Has anyone ever removed just the skins from the frame? thanks
  11. Good evening, I am trying to upgrade my F10 to electronic ignition. I bought the Pertronix product but it did not fit. When I spoke to Pertronix they told me that they do not manufacture a compatible product for my distributor. Has anyone had success with this upgrade? Did you replace the whole distributor or use the conversion kit that fits inside the cap? What brand/model did you use? thanks
  12. Good afternoon All, I had the dash out to replace the dash pad. Before re-installing it I wanted to oil all the mechanism for the AC/Heater box. I have found that the guide on top is warped and that one of the spring bushings is missing all together. Trying to go through all the motions the guide jumps over the spring bushings and plastic lever pegs. I have found some nylon bushings that are a decent fit but I would like to remove the top metal-ish plate and bend it back down into shape. - is there a way to remove that top guide? - can I glue the nylon bushing to the plastic levers or do they need to turn through all of the movement? The fit is not perfect and I do not want them to come off of the peg. - are these mechanisms fairly duplicate in Datsuns? (can I use parts from another model?) thanks for your help
  13. Thanks very much! great information
