@datzenmike, thanks for the suggestions. @thisismatt The engine is a Z20 with a Robello head built by Troy Ermish. The rear end is taller. I just replaced it a three weeks ago. The issue just just started a few days ago. I have met a few 510 guys here in SB. @Stoffregen MotorsportsDual Mikuni PH 44's -
As the title says, RPM's drop when I release the clutch in first gear. The car idles fine at about 1K RPM. But when taking off in first gear, as soon as I release the clutch and roll into the throttle, the car bogs and I have to rev it to accelerate with out bogging. The car runs great in all gears, it only happens at take off. Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks!

How hard is it to replace a rear differential?

@datzenmikeNo offense taken, lol. It's been a while since I have wrenched on a car and I'm a little rusty. @banzai510(hainz) That is exactly what was done. My guy, used a stethoscope to pin point that the "knock" was coming from the diff. -
I just determined that a new knocking sound is coming from my rear end in my 71 510. How hard is it to replace if I decide to start wrenching myself? If I have a shop do it, what is a ball park price I should expect? Thanks! Mike

So a new noise started today in my 510. It only happens when I'm driving over about 20 mph. I can put the car in neutral and rev to 3-4K and no noise at all? It sounds like it is coming from the tranny area. Any suggestions on what it could be?
