hi i am selling a 1979 datsun pickup, im asking 1500 buck for it i live in port angeles washington. its bright yellow it has some cancer, its a five speed and does have the L16b in it unfortunatily runs great burn no oil or water at all, weber carb offenhouser intake manifold, header , nice cd player 2 pioneer speakers temp oil pressure gauge. everything works seat out of 90s celica i think, after market headlights with blue haloe, everything works. 215-75-15 km2s on black steal wheels comes with extra set of 185s on aluminum rims, has cab guard mesh no cut outs or add ons. name is cody give me a call at (360)461-4733 i work grave yard so i sleep in till about 2 thank you i can text pictures i dont know how to put them on here

hey i just put a 73 l16b in my 79 datsun pickup. i put a 73 distributor in it, but i was wonder if i can and or should run a 79 dist.? any help aprreciated

well im rebuilding an l20b so ill just get 79 distributer and play it from there, thanks for the help guys

long story short, blew it up wnated 2 wheel drive toyota, sold datsun to buddy then ended up wanting it back. these thing you have to have dialed to run good and nothin the same. toyotas are alot more simple, hahh well thanks for the help ill get these down sooner or later

the tires are 215/75R15. ya i blew up the original motor, l20b, found a 73 l6b for 100 with 140k on it so i put it in and just found the distributer that was same year as motor. my points are fine and i put well over a 1000 miles on it the havent even really changed color and are not pitted. my timing light shows the 5 degree mark like an inch where it should be, but if i put it where it should be on time it spark knocks bad. and i had one of my buddies that knows datsuns better then me and he said my top end is on time with bottom end

hey got a little question for ya guys. i have a 79 620 just got it in, i put a late 73 distributer in it and got it timed best i could. one problem it pulls hills just as bad as my 22r in my yota with 36s and stock gears. its an l16 and it has 215 bfgs is it timed wrong or are they that gut less all help appreciated thanks

ya i heard 13.5 to 14v is good 14.5 is pushing it but will still work. i made my 1 day old battery ooz, kinda pissed haha. well thankls for the help guys, going out right now to swap alternator and hopefully this will work. now you know how on the plug there is the 12v wire (wr) and then there is the little bigger wire that goes in cab?do you guys have the bigger wire on the bottom of the plug i think its labeled n?

ya pretty much every wire has been cut, i bought someone elses problem big time. according to the wirediagram for 73 and 79 they were backwards, but when i hooked them up the way it said it just over charged bad. so i think its the alternator. i eliminated everything lol, its all it can be

ya its all hooked up correctly i was workin on it for hours. i think it was probably the regulator, so i when and traded alternater in for new one so ill see if its it if not ill just put chev one wire in it

ya it is an internal regulater its a 73 motor and alternator the plug that goes in the back those wires were back wards. so i switched them to how the wire diagram said it was suppose to be, and started it and it was chrging like 16 volts then battery started leakin. think its just bad regulator? o and also when i have it hooked up running 16 volts it ran like crap i think thats just because the electric fuel pump got to uch voltage

Hi, my name is cody. i just bought a 1979 datsun pickup, i put a l16 into it. no matter what i cant get it to charge, new battery and alternator. it gets a current of 14.5 volts come out of the alternator. the little 12v wire and the charge light wire are hooked up backwards, but when i switched them around and it started battery fluid started oozing. anyone know anything sorry if you cant understand this i am on my phone sorry all help appreciated thanks.

Ok, with the z series tranny bolt up and i can use same drive line to? Because the bell housing comes apart like half way in the tranny.

Ok, i put a z22 motor in my 79 Datsun. It all bolted up but the tranny is cocked to the driver side, so i can't get it into 1st gear. It is the stock tranny with a newer motor, so what i am wanting to know is there an easy fix to make everything right? Would it be easier to get the right tranny for the z22, or just get another l16 to put into it? sorry im not to good on a key board thanks.

ya i got motor in and motor is tilted to passanger side and tranny is other way so i cant get it in first i was going to just cut flore boardbut that bell housing is on any of the z motors?
