  1. Looks like my Datsun is up for Car of the Year on Hooniverse. Put another Ratsun in the spotlight and vote on my truck. http://hooniverse.com/2010/12/28/hooniverse-car-of-the-year-get-your-vote-on/ I don't ever ask for anything, but if anybody feels inclined to help push my truck up the latter it would be much appreciated. Thanks
  2. The S3 Issue is at the printers! It should be out in a couple of weeks!! I can't wait to see how it turned out!
  3. The shots that made it to Motormavens.
  4. Go to www.Motormavens.com The 620 made it as their center stage vehicle! I'm stoked about how well it turned out! The Air Field we shot at was super cool about everything!
  5. I got them from Zcar I think. They're for a 240z. They fit perfect! I little bend in on the corners and they are just right for the Datsun. I cut my fenders though. So be prepared to cut out the little rounded edge that's already on the 620. I don't know if I have a picture of it with out the fender flares so you can see where the cut goes. Lemme look around the hard drive here to see if there is any pics of that. Here's one. But it's not that great of showing exactly where the line is. But as you can see, I had to cut out the rounded edge of the fender completely. I went a little above the rounded edge in the middle so that the tires have plenty of clearance.
  6. Datsun Kid: Those flares are for a 240z. So you were looking in the right direction. I think I got them from Z Car. Not sure anymore. Javin: Dude, it's killing me too! They're a little slow on the publications, but their quality is Awesome! I've been told that it's gonna be on the cover and then I was told that it wasn't. So I don't really care. It was between me and some Cressida. I was a little offended, to tell ya the truth, that they would put the Datsun in the same category as the Cressida. I like late 80's Cressida's but this is a one-off build and Datsun's have pretty much looked way cooler than old school Toyota's in my opinion. The magazine has been wanting more coverage, so I told them that the Datsun is definitely the way, because no one is doing very much coverage on the Datsun trucks anymore unless they have some crazy build going on. They asked me to put it in their booth at Formula Drift Atlanta this year. People were breaking themselves to get over and get shots of it ask questions and they sold a ton of subscriptions those three days. I'm not saying that it was directly because of me but the truck was definitely bringing them over. Plus how many magazines do you see on the shelf that are covered with Honda Civics, 240sx's and RX7's versus Datsun's. I don't pick up magazines that have the other cars on them because it's always the same crap every time you pick it up. But if I see an old school import, no matter what it is, I pick it up and take a look. I've had a 240sx, Infiniti M30, and 2 Supra TT's, so I'm not trying to hate, I'm just past those cars. I still appreciate them but I've moved on. *end rant* I wasn't really ranting, even though it kinda sounds like it. I just had a really good cup of coffee this morning and my fingers won't stop typing. :D
  7. Wait til I can post up the pictures that were shot of my truck for the S3 Magazine shoot. I can't post them up til after the Magazine issue has come out. I was scheduled to have the 620 shot for Motormavens next week, but I may have to reschedule due to my new rad fan is super unbalanced and causing it to wear holes in the Griffin. So I can drive it anywhere without a fan.
  8. I like solo II but it's just to slow for me. I will probably start doing some Solo I with the local BMWSCCA in the near future hopefully.
  9. Yea thats Petey The Drift Pigeon. My buddy Chris Rhoad is wanting to do a silly documentary on Petey showing the places that he's been. He's been on several peoples cars and been to several states at different tracks. The next time someone goes to another country he's going along. :)
  10. S3 Mag. It's mostly an east coast mag. But you guys may get it over there. I'm not sure. The truck has already been on Hellaflush, Stanceworks, Speedhunters and Canibeat and Motormavens (as some of you may have already seen). Motormavens is wanting to do a full spread on it. We were gonna shoot this week but the Rad fan crapped out this weekend. So I can't drive it anywhere as of now. And I'm trying to get together some really good shots of it now because I just heard this morning that they're filming Fast and Furious 5 here in Atlanta. I'm not a F&F fan really, but I want to try and get it in the movie. It would be great coverage for the Old School Datsuns.
  11. I just saw this one a few minutes ago.
  12. A couple of new shots and a video from this past weekend.
  13. Yea thats why I went RHD when we did the SR in mine. If you're not use to driving RHD it's a little weird at first but you'll get use to it pretty quick. It's just hard to remember to stay in your lane. :P I've got an 88' Toyota Soarer GT TT thats RHD that I've been driving for a while so I was already use to it a bit. Keep us updated on the build. Lots of pictures are my favorite. I like to look instead of read. :)
  14. Truck looks like it's coming along nicely. I wish I would've noticed this thread a while back. I would've told ya about the LHD issue with getting the SR in there and not having any room. I read through the whole build on here and was gonna chime in on a few things. The factory bottom end of the SR will hold well over 400rwhp. But you will need to do some top-end work. New metal head gasket, injectors, springs and retainers, cams, etc,. But by now I'm sure you're aware of that. Also there's a guy on ebay that's selling a plate kit that allows you to add a wilwood master cylinder for the brakes. I don't know how well this works. I only heard of it through a friend. As far as the remote turbo location for the L16, you would have to cut the exhaust in half, weld a bracket on that, mount your turbo and then continue your exhaust out the back of the A/R housing. Then you have to run all your plumbing from the compressor-out to the intercooler. Usually, the more plumbing you have the more lag you're gonna get. Now you can eliminate some of that by using as much solid piping as you can with the least amount of couplers. This will cut down on flex and expansion. But still, your turbo has to put all of that air volume under pressure before seeing any real results to the ground. Air compresses, and the more of it you have to compress the longer it's going to take to get to you're end result. Therefore resulting in lag. If you have a medium sized turbo with a smaller AR housing you can spool faster and cut down on lag, but you will sacrifice power to spool quicker. Did you make it to the show on the 22nd? You had a lot of work ahead of you. Tough deadline to make. I originally thought my project was maybe a month or two. I was a little wrong. A year and a half later I drove it out of the garage. :)
  15. Thanks! The truck is about to be in a magazine. The shoot was this past weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway. If someone wants to send me some Ratsun.net stickers I will put them in the cab or engine bay, which still has to be shot in the next week or so.
