  1. Either way, I hope to have her up and running by this weekend. I was looking forward to cruising her to the swapmeet Saturday....
  2. That seems to be the consensus. It was my only vehicle, and I should have known better as it had been sitting in his yard for about 3 years. Gonna drop the tranny tomorrow and see how the damage plays out.
  3. It has an L20 with a 5 speed in it, and as for out if oil, I'm pretty sure it was. The P/O said it was good to go, so I never crawled under it to check myself. Lesson learned on that one! The clutch disengages, and you can put it in gear, but when letting out the clutch, all you hear is a loose ringing metal to metal sound. Was rolling up 5 at about 65 when it happened. Coasted about a 1/2 mile then CHP pushed me off another mile with no other sounds or issues.
  4. So, I bought a 620 last week, first one ever. Drove it home from Redding last week with a few minor issues but mostly fixable. Was headed back up to pick up some parts and the damn tranny went out. My first experience is not going so well.... So now I sit at an exit in Williams waiting for a friend to come trailer me back to Redding where I can hopefully figure something out.... Scottie
  5. It's a 32/36 on an L20B. Having idle/running issues. Dizzy seems to have been installed wrong. At least 1-2 teeth off. I'm new to this working on stuff myself so I'm not sure how to fix it. Symptoms include not wanting to idle unless on the throttle and massive popping from the carb while driving along with raw fuelsmell. No fuel leaks aanywhere, so I know its also from the carb.
  6. Does anyone know where I can get a Weber carb rebuild kit in the Stockton area? Also, does anyone in the area have any experience adjusting these carbs?
  7. Any threads on boiling it out? I called and confirmed and it does have a five-speed so it must have been swapped.
  8. Okay, so from what I've been told, the previous owner was driving (racing) it and went to shift from 4th to 5th and accidentally went to 3rd, way over revving the motor. It still runs, but I was told to take it easy until I am able to rebuild it. Also had a leak of some sort so they poured a stop leak in it and say the radiator may be partially plugged as it runs warmer than usual. They also removed the thermostat to see if that would help the heat issue. Battery needs to be replaced. And needs an alternator. Any suggestions with any of these will be greatly appreciated. Getting excited, I'm leaving tonight to pick her up...
  9. Just bought my first Datsun, a '74 620 with a clean title. Will be looking for all kinds of info and parts as this is all new to me. Have been on the fence for a while and finally decided to jump in, head first! I pick it up Wednesday so I will post pics as soon as I get to her... Thanks in advance, Scottie
