  1. Good info on the starter, thanks Mike.

To share another hobby of mine, I've been playing around with 3D printing functional parts.

This shift nob I printed, painted, epoxied, and polished.

Also playing around with some velocity stacks. The material I printed this in would not actually hold up.

I'm looking into some materials that could actually work now.

  2. I was having some starting issues, so I decided to run through and clean things up.

I've never seen such a harassed circuit. I took the picture even after taking a wire nut out of the mix.

And this starter is from a later model?

  3. Hello all,

I've been getting to know a little red roadster pretty well the last few months.

I purchased the car outside Sacramento and trailered it home.

The plan is to get it running well mechanically, then drive the snot out of it.
My current issues are the front suspension and electricals.

The banged up  right front fender leads me to believe there is some damage to the suspension components.

The wheel looks cambered in and toed out, car pulls to the left.

    Some direction here is appreciated.

    Suspension in question:

It seems to me like the upper ball joint is at a strange angle.

Also, turning the steering to its far left gets tough, and lifts the a-arms.

    Strange?

  4. Its a great show, and great week of events. The big day for the car show is saturday, and the cruise is always fun. All cars are welcome and well received - american/vw's/brittish/of all styles. I actually cant remember the last time I saw a 510 out.

This was me in the cruise in my old vw:

  5. I'm running an mgb intake and exhaust, along with a reground camshaft to mgb performance specs. Electronic ignition and lightened flywheel help too. You can look into running a j13 head with j15 valves to bring the compression up.

There is performance stuff out there for the mgb that should fit, but being crazy expensive, its risky. They sell crossflow cylinder heads, and other crazy valve train parts for them.

The mgb guys have had success with supercharging, you can look into that.

  6. Were back in business! I took out the fuse panel, and it was pretty corroded. I soaked it in vinegar, then used emery cloth on all the contacts to buff em out. I reinstalled in cleaning all the contacts as I did.

Headlights work! From the looks of it, I think the whole electrical system might get a boost.

Definantely a must do for any 411 owners, even before any problems arise.

    Thanks Mike!

  7. THANKS THANKS THANKS for all the responses. I replaced the fuse with a brand new one, no dice. I chased wires all under the dash yesterday with no success, but did figure all the switches were working properly. The fuse panel is a bit rusty, I'll go about cleaning it tomorrow and see if that helps!

  8. My headlights have been giving me a bit of trouble. They stopped working, I checked the fuse and it was rusty and broken (not the actual fuse, but the housing). Thinking this was the problem I replaced it, but no dice.

The fuse has power, but when I turn on the headlight switch the fuse has no power running through it. This is both positions of the switch, and the dimmer flipped on both.

Any advice? Bad dimmer switch or headlight switch? I'm going out to chase wires right now.

    Thanks!
