  1. yes it is a B210 gx hatchback, my girlfriend spotted it one day when we were on or way to a conservation pond to do some fishing and on the dirt road it was in a yard about 50 yards from a barn and there was no house but we looked around trying to find anyone around but there was no one to be seen. but after a couple hours of fishing we started home and luckily the old man was at the shop firing up his tractor so we stopped and talked to him and ended up buying it for $250 couldn't be happier. He told us that it had a head gasket replaced at Hot Springs Nissan and two weeks later it blew it again they fixed it for free this time and then in less than a month it popped again and this time they said they couldn't fix it and he needed a motor so he parked it and there it set for 12 years. It's an automatic which made my girlfriend happy. the motor is trashed so here we are. I did get the cam in my Cummins tonight and the valves set so if i can get out of work one night a little early this week I should be able to wrap my truck up and get it out and the Datsun in and start mocking it up and see if its even got a snow balls chance in hell to run with an LS1 or not. I'm not going to butcher the car up, I can handle some triming and I have no problem putting a hole roll of some .035 welding wire in the car if thats what it takes but the trans tunnel is what I'm really worried about right now. I know I'm going to have to destroy the radiator support more than likely but thats par for the course
  2. I love the fenderwall headers on that one, it does look like a miniature chevy two under there and thats saying something since the novas are really spacious under the hood
  3. lol, well much like the SR20 LS1's are easy to add power to and the one that I had planned to use has an LS6 top end and a an ASA cam and runs pretty good its more than likely in the 425,450hp range but I was going to put a LS6 or even an LS1 cam in i if it goes in the little Datsun. But!!!! I know, know the weight and size are going to be a deciding factor in this....and I'm still not totally sure I wont run a 4.3 if the LS won't fit
  4. Yeah the more I read on the SR20 the more I like, I've had some experience in my young years with a 4g63, it was fun made some serious power with cams and a turbo upgrade and from what I'm seeing the sr20 would be as fun or funner with some small upgrades. I'm going to keep reading and hunting up a deal to good to be true before I get excited about this but I do like the size and fun potential with this little motor deal
  5. ok so I'm reading up on the SR20 and I have to say it looks nice
  6. I'm not worried about the brake upgrade I was just wanting options I might still buy the stainless steel brake upgrade for it, on the SR swap its not that its that much money its just money for a motor that makes 150ish horsepower and probably won't do a whole lot better on fuel or be near as fun to drive but all withstanding it is looking like at the end of the day thats the direction I'll be heading in but I am going to try to fit an LS in it first before I concede to defeat I know you don't know me at all but its a little harsh to just completely rule out any chance of this happening.....just as a joke I wan't to say something that my dad always told me "never assume you always end up making an ass- out of -u-and-me" wow, now can you tell us how you really fill about this. And try not to hold back so much this time lmao......and thank you for the welcome
  7. I'm going to try this LS1 swap still but if I have to cut the crap out of the firewall I'm going to go somewhere else for a power plant but I would like to stay chevy if I can but I've looked a little at the sr20's but there still a little higher than what I would want to spend on but I'm sure there alot cheaper if I look in the right spot but then there's still all the harness and trans stuff I Don't know anything about
  8. I may not do an LS swap but I will do this brake upgrade no matter what direction I go in in powertrain thanks for the link I wouldn't mind doing a sr20 swap but I'll tell you guys why I wanted to do an ls swap other than the fact that I have two of them in the shop floor, my best friend has all the tuning software and modifies harness's and runs LT1swap.com he live's right down road from me and we do alot of third gen gm powertrain swaps but I'm really thinking that I am going to have to look in a different direction. I dont know anything about sr20's I'll have to do some research and see what I can pick one up for but if there real pricey I'll probably go back to my original plan with a 4.3 thank you very much for your reply, I dont want to have to heavily modify the firewall I can handle the core support butchery and such but if I have to destroy the firewall I would rather not. I'm at work now but when I get home I'm going to read over your post again and I'm sure I'll have a few questions for you. yeah it looks like my power to weight would be somewhere around 6.4 6.5 to 1 thats a little crazy
  9. as soon as I get the new cam in my cummins and get it out of the garage the 210 will be heading in there and I'll be stripping it out, hopefully this next weekend and I'll have some pics and such, I've done my fair share of motor swaps but I have no datsun knowledge at all so this is going to be a learning experience for me. I figured the rearend wouldn't be up to the task of this adventure but I will see what will fit in it without to much work. I'm also hoping to take this car on Drag week this year so I want it to be trustworthy and safe
  10. yeah I'm not really concerned about auto crossing the car. As long as it will go around a corner without pushing like a dump truck I would be happy lol funny guy :) If only I had one I would try, but I certainly can not afford that right now are there any junkyard type brake upgrades that are available for these cars that you guys can help me out on I've found the stainless steel brake upgrades for the front but it would be nice if there's a junkyard upgrade out there.
  11. well I bought this car for my girlfriend a few years back its a low mileage 210 but the head gasket had blown on it and the parked it and it sit for ten years when I got it I spent a week getting the motor to turn but it was totally fubar so it got put on the back burner until I could think of something to put in it. I am a chevy guy at heart and since this car is an automatic already I was originally thinking a T.B.I. 4.3 with a 700r4 trans but recently I just happened across the video on youtube of the 76 b210 with a small block in it and I have to think that if there's a guy with a small block in one than I might as well put one of my ls1's in it. So here I come to my question has anyone tried this, I've searched here and google and other sites with no luck. I know that anything can be put into almost anything I'm more wanting to know what the crossmembers, brakes and rearends are like in these cars and how tough the rear end is? I am just trying to think if this is a good idea or not I want something to drive back and forth to work that is fun and can get somewhere in the upper twenty's in fuel mileage.
