Other than the shifter itself and the shift knob, there is a 'control lever spring' between that hex head thing on the far left and the small washer with round hole called the 'lever spring seat'. Above it is the larger cup shaped thing called the 'cover cap' which is pushed down against the spring and twisted to lock in place.

Can you post a better picture of the part on the far left? Looks like it screws onto the bottom of the shift lever but may have snapped off.

I think MIke Klotz https://ratsun.net/profile/11-mklotz70/ has had one apart and probably knows more about it. Send him a private message.

The part with threads... does it appear to be broken off? Perhaps it threads into the bottom of the shifter?

Again contact Mike Klotz. I'm sure he knows more about this.

That threaded bit being intact is kind of the whole ballgame here, otherwise the spring pieces won't have much to locate against. The 320 shifter setup is oddly simple but fussy.

The threaded thingie is a front crank bolt that holds the pulley on and the left side of it accepts the crank for hand starting the little E1 engine. As far as the shifter, you're missing the shift rod and spring that goes on lower end of shift rod under the cupped washer and retaining dome that you do have. the lower end of the shift rod has a tang on it that operates the gear selector rods inside the transmission. Also theres a dowel pin in the ball that seats under the cupped washerDatsun320FloorShifter2.thumb.jpg.2bfbd915e458a018a716724ebeb4f924.jpg that keeps the shift rod that you're missing from rotating. The shift rod that you need can also be installed backward pointing toward the dash.

I went back and added an image to my post, but looks like it stuck it in the middle of the text. You should be able to type the web address at the bottom of the image into your computer and access the 410 parts manual for more of the transmission parts breakdown. if you can look at a 320 factory parts manual, you probably will only find the column shift trany. The floor shift was used in the last year or so of production fo the 320 and also in the 410 sedan and the first half yar of the 520 pickup that replaced the 320. If you're gonna be doing serious wrenching around on these relics, I'd advise accessing the parts and service manuals for all the old Datsuns on the NICO site. here's a link to the manuals page. Just do the dropdown for the 320 and you can open the service and parts manuals. To find the floor shift trans as I stated before, you'll probably need to look in the 410 sedan or 520 pickup tab. I'd suggest that you run a 'Want To Buy' ad in the classifieds page of this forum for the shifter parts that you need. You are a bit lucky being in the Pacific NW where a lot of the old Datsun stuff has survived better than the rest of the country.

Like a lot of classic owners faced with NLA parts you probably have to scrounge them or make something else work.
