Want to replace Brakes

I’m looking for any information I can find on getting new rotors for my 71 510. Also, I would like to swap rear drums  for disk, but all the options I’ve found use 14” wheels and up. The calipers can be replaced, at 55 yrs I would rather swap them out for new instead of rebuilding. Thanks in advance

Early 610 and 710 rotors before '75 should be the same but if at auto supply store, that will know this. Only other way is to scrounge them from 510, 610 or 710 and turn them down. 

 

While there is a coolness factor to rear discs, the drums will stop you just as well. There is a clear advantage under extreme repeated braking as the disc brakes don't fade like drums, they have fewer parts, the pads are very easy to change and once set there is zero maintenance. (adjusting)

 

Additional things to consider:

1/  The rear circuit proportioning valve in the master cylinder must be replaced with a disc brake proportioning valve.

2/  Some form of emergency brake must be addressed.
