94 d21 v6

I'm wondering if a z24 or sd22 diesel engine could be swapped into a 94 d21 easily? It comes with the v6 engine which apparently runs well but ha 400 000 km on it. Does anyone have experience with the v6 engines I don't know much about them.

You'll need the transmission to go with the gas engine. I wouldn't suggest a diesel unless the D-21 had one in it.

 

Things to think about...

Likely the driveshaft will need shortening, don't know how well the Z24 oil pan will fit the D-21's frame.

You'll need an electric low pressure 3-4 PSI fuel pump.

You'll have to modify the D-21's exhaust or maybe the Z24 exhaust will fit? Weld it to the D-21 exhaust?

I don't know how well the Z24's engine brackets will fit the VG30's rubber isolaters.

Then there is the radiator. VG's upper and lower pipes look to be close to Z24's positions. 

I think from '95 on there is no speedometer cable and the dash speedometer is run by an electronic speed sensor in the transmission. No speedometer.

Yes the VG series are quite good. About the same, slightly more power than the KA four cylinder engines but more torque.

There is a 94 d21 available for 4500. It is in great shape. Has 400 000km on it. Not sure if the price point is good but will see if they are negotiable

That's a LOT of miles on a truck for just the engine/transmission.

Sorry. I meant the truck itself is in excellent shape . But yes the mileage is quite high

Plenty of Nissan V6s in junkyards that you could get to replace it.  Easily less than 400k miles.
