agraz220 Posted August 4 Report Posted August 4 Just recently picked up an 82 720 4x4 that someone partially swapped a z24 into. Seems this had power steering with the original z22 motor as lines and everything are present. Looking at the z24 pump however, there doesn't appear to be a reservoir, so I assume it was remote on whatever it came out of I have the old z22 pump and reservoir, what is needed to hobble this combination together? Thank you! https://imgur.com/a/ezBIqqe Quote
datzenmike Posted August 5 Report Posted August 5 Pretty sure the Z22/Z24 PS pump had the integral reservoirs. I think this is from a car or later Hardbody with external reservoir. The reservoir on the Z24 pump is a press on with an O ring seal located about where that threaded fitting is. I would think the Z22 pump should fit the Z24 head however the Z22 has a block off plate to cover the hole for a mechanical fuel pump (not always used on a Z22) where as the Z24 has the bolt holes only... Z22 head top and Z24 head below. The difference is the thickness of that block off plate. I don't know how that would affect things, just be aware of it. Quote
agraz220 Posted August 6 Author Report Posted August 6 While rummaging through the pile of extra parts, believe I found all the z22 pump pieces. Removing the stud where the fuel pump would go seems to fit the mount bracket. Looks like different alternator bracket fits as well. I can't seem to figure out what this clamp at the bottom of the ps bracket would connect to however. Pics below Thank you for the help! https://imgur.com/a/Wlazlu6 Quote
