Corrosion removal from aluminum

I was wondering if anyone has a good method of removing the corrosion from an aluminum cam cover. What I've found online is vapor blasting and such but I'm looking for a way that I can do in my shop without major expense.

Draino and hot water is at the high end of alkaline acids. I've cleaned heads with it but it will dissolve aluminum and give off hydrogen gas so don't leave over night. The heads were not corroded so I don't think acids actually dissolve aluminum oxide. Turns aluminum black but polishes up after.

I looked up electrolysis but that only works with iron/steel.
