Bautis Posted June 14 Report Posted June 14 Hello, I have a 1981 200sx with a z20e motor. I was driving and hit a crazy patch of bumps. Now my car has the oil pressure light on and reads little to no oil pressure. The gauge will go up a little bit. My oil pan got crunched to hell by the sway bar which is on the front of the motor. I was wondering if my oil pickup tube got damaged? My oil pressure gauge was not knocked loose or anything. Does anyone have an idea where to start beside pulling the pan? Quote
datzenmike Posted June 14 Report Posted June 14 Do not drive till oil pressure problem is resolved. You may have cracked or broken the oil pick tube. You'll need to remove and hammer out that oil pan anyway. Quote

I tried to buy one online eBay but couldn’t seem to find a replacement. Also do I have to drop the subframe to remove oil pan?? Quote
datzenmike Posted June 14 Report Posted June 14 On all L and Z series engines it's about half way back on the right side about where the block flairs wider. The pick up tubes are often all different to reflect a front, mid or rear sump oil pan. Quote
banzai510(hainz) Posted June 22 Report Posted June 22 (edited) I would have pulled the oil filter out and cranked the motor and see if oil shoots out.. Dont use Fram oil filter get a WIX(napa) get the Hitachi oup0023 oil pump Japan https://www.amazon.com/Hitachi-OUP0023-Oil-Pump/dp/B00T3MGEHO/ref=sr_1_1?crid=477MJUI7XTC8&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.KMfIH7reLuDBG58SFqgUnjt_AhO16gbjSW7KybNbsUrj4QcMmmbtLSUaUeA2MLdT8sx0Fi5aIVZBP6AzMi6hVQ.Pxdm482rgV_SFYonHumPLCM_ck-Q_2nKLLUbFbTL9IY&dib_tag=se&keywords=hitachi+oup+0023+oil+pump&qid=1782157624&sprefix=hitachi+oup+0023+oil+pump%2Caps%2C165&sr=8-1 Edited June 22 by banzai510(hainz) Quote

I pulled the pan and it was super crunched up against the oil pickup tube. Banged out the pan and ready to install. Will I have to raise the motor? Quote
datzenmike Posted June 23 Report Posted June 23 Check the pick up tube was no bent or damaged. If the pan came off it should just go back on. Perhaps remove the frame hold downs and rubber on the sway bar and it should swing out of the way. Quote
