zim_shady
I have a 1973 Datsun 620. I currently have front side marker lights and brake lights but no tail lights, rear side marker lights, or turn signals. I have the front turn signals unhooked right now to replace the front valance and am not sure if thats part of my issue? Thanks in advance! Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Are your dash lights working? If no, use a test lamp on the 10 amp fuse in the fuse box. Should have 12v on both sides. If not wiggle the fuse to improve the contact. Working? If dash lights work with headlights on, go to the rear right tail lamp and look on the frame near it for the harness from the cab where it plugs into the tail light harness across the rear. It's a 6 wire plug. Unplug, get a test lamp and check for power on the Green/Blue stripe wire. This is power for the rear running lights, license plate light and side marker lights. Sometimes just unplugging and plugging the connector back up cleans and makes contact and gets them running. Connect up the front turn signals first, that should make the rears work also. zim_shady
Yes they are. I looked at that too.im a hoping it is just a ground corrosion issue Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
If any lamps are working at the back then the ground is good. If dash lights working, look near the right rear tail light near the end of the right frame rail. There will be a round 6 pin connector joining the frame harness to the tail light harness across the back. Unplug and test for power on the Green/Blue wire. This is the tail light, license and marker lights power source from the cab. Sometimes they get corroded and unplugging and plugging back together cleans and make contact. Is there power on the Green/Blue stripe wire with headlights on??? Quote Link to comment
zim_shady
Well i looked at the connector and found a shitty wire splice that pulled apart. Put it back together and heat shrink on it and boom...taillights work. Now to get the turn signal going. Thanks for the help. Definitely led me to the issue! 2 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The original flasher was load dependent so if a bulb burned out the flasher would not work. If your fronts are disconnected... Quote Link to comment
zim_shady
I connected the front lights and barely worked. The hazards work but I only get all 4 corners if I turn kn my left signal with it. I then replaced the flasher and got 3 blinks. I (with the signals on) unplugged the flasher and plugged it back in and no change. Then I accidentally bumped the hazard switch and they turned on. And now as long as I make sure the switch is pushed in 100% they work fine. Long term I need a new signal switch but now I can atleast use it! Thanks for all the help! Quote Link to comment
