PineClone
Hi all. A few questions on this...After researching on this forum a while back, I ended up purchasing these kits: https://www.ebay.com/itm/235048306952 I finally got around to pulling off the door today and ran into a few issues: 1) What is the best way to pull the pins? I've tried a hammer and punch and haven't had much luck. I'm hesitant to grind off the head, but could do that. 2) The bottom hinge pin looks like a smaller diameter than what came in the kit. I'm assuming that i'd need to drill out the holes to get them to fit. Curious if anyone has done this before and whether can offer any pointers. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
Thomas Perkins
To fix your old hinges.See the star on them that holds the door in place when opened against the bar.To do this without removing them from the vehicle.Open door.Take tension off star by pushing door a little. While the star is not touching the bar.Move the star with a flat head screw driver till the stripped out part of the star is moved and the good part of the star is in place where it will grip the bar to hold it in place when door is opened.I did that with my passenger door long ago and is still doing good.I replaced the Driver side with a Nissan one when they had them in stock about 15 years ago.Dont buy used ones cause more than likely the star is striped out.I seen many used ones on Ebay that were.I do have a brand new set of Nissan ones that I wont part with. The left and right door dont use the same one's.Just the bottom hinges have the stars.Top hinges never go bad. Some stars will dig deep into the bar.Good to put a dab of grease on them to stop from squeaking.WD. dosen't work. I tried it and grease stops the noise.Put on star and other places. You may have to tap the screw driver with a hammer lightly to get star to move.Maybe wedge the door so it stays open and star is not touching the bar. Here is the star circled in the picture.See the bar above the star.Spraying star with WD-40 may help the star move to relocate it.Before I bought the new driver side one.I went cheap and bought some after market new ones and they didn't work.Got lucky back then and Nissan still had them in stock. I sent the after market ones back.I just found these used ones for sale.See the worn out star.It wont hold the door in place when opened. See how the star dug into the bar.Someone is going to get ripped off.lol Edited May 22 by Thomas Perkins Quote Link to comment

Thomas Perkins
Never heard of replacing pins. That is new to me.I may know where to get Brand new Nissan ones from Japan but they will be costly cause of Trump'sTariffs. They were costly when Nissan here had them. Quote Link to comment
Thomas Perkins
The stars on the bottom hinges are the only thing that goes bad on them. That is what keeps the door open when you open it.If they get stripped out, then the door wont stay open. The top one just holds the door to the frame, nothing else. The right hinge only fits the right door.Same as left hinge only fits left door. What are bushings?Post pictures of your's?The black one's in my pictures are exactly as Nissan one's. Thomas Perkins
Low and behold .I am wronger than shit. The right and left side fit both sides.I paid alot for my Nissan one's back in 2023.I have it posted on my page here. Not from Trump's Tariffs. The Nissan site just has the right side posted.Because they will fit either side. PineClone
Well I didn't get video of the process but here is what I did to fix the sagging lower hinge on the driver's side door: - Removed the door - Used a grinder to remove the head of the existing pin. Pushed the pin out the bottom. - Bored out the holes in the hinge to accommodate the larger diameter pin and bushing that came with the kit. Used a drill and then a file in order to not overbore the holes. - Installed the hinge and door. - Smiled. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
