Tbone455
Yo can someone help me identify what this hole is for, and what the pipe is for where my finger is. The pipe is pinched so I was thinking like for smog delete or something ? Pic is in link on Reddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/ratsun/s/wmJ7Ef06Et Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Yeah that's the dip stick tube you're pointing to. No it's got nothing to do with emissions. Better point to the hole. That block is a newer casting (around '79-'80?) and likely an import, judging from it's location to the front. All 620 L series engines have the dip stick beside the starter. Quote Link to comment

It’s not the dipstick hole! Or is it a second one? I took the dipstick off from a different spot Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
You are pointing to the dip stick tube. Some import engines are used for different applications and are mounted at the front. Now, what hole are you referring to???? Quote Link to comment

Tbone455
Honestly I was just curious it don’t really matter I’m going to plug it with something else cause that pipe is ugly lol Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Correct. That's the location where the dip stick tube should go. Now I can see what you are talking about. This is an import engine and that is just another place that the dip stick can be located. It's pinched off so just leave it. Quote Link to comment
Tbone455
Just now, datzenmike said: Correct. That's the ;location where the dip stick tube should go. Now, where this other holke you mentioned? I got you so it’s probably just an import that got plugged right there with the crimped tube? Sorry the hole I was talking about is the one that the crimped tube sits inside Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Your finger was covering the crimp or I would have said something sooner. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Looks like an L16/18 block. Definitely not an L20B. L18 was only used in '73/'74 in North America but elsewhere in the world into the '80s. Quote Link to comment

I figured, that’s why I flipped it over. I was like damn am I mental this is not the dipstick tube. It is an L16. It came in the truck when I bought it Quote Link to comment
