lil Hustler 620
Hey guys, I bought a L20b engine from California Datsun years ago in 2019. I recently needed to replace the water pump that came with the motor when I first bought it. The motor has never ran because my build has been a ground up restoration. I never knew about all the negative feedback about them until recently. Here are some pics of what I found and wondering how bad this is? Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
What's to see?? Just replace it. L20Bs generally have an integral clutch fan so any fan or pump failure means they both get changed. Quote Link to comment
lil Hustler 620
I was wondering about the corroded side on the left of the inner water pump. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Just rusty water stain. Probably sat for a time half empty. What was wrong with the water pump? Why removed?? Quote Link to comment
lil Hustler 620
It came with a pump and no clutch. I replaced the pump and found all the hardware and radiator I need. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
Nice motor. I love it!!!!!!!!! front cover is not that bad. aluminum isnt going to last forever. However buy the 50/50 premix and never run tap water thru it unless stuck out somewhere. Change out the fluid every 3/5 years. It helps from cavitating the aluminum.(like termites going thru it) zcarparts.com is a better place to find some partsor a onestop shop. I anti seize all motor front cover and water pump bolts as over time they corrode. Edited March 14 by banzai510(hainz) Quote Link to comment
