Thomas Perkins
Happy Tuesday ya'll.Yesterday I was showing someone my fusible link connectors I use.I took the link off the positive side to show and could not get the negative cable off.I had it so tight that it dug into the post.So I removed the battery from truck and cut the bolt off the cable with my dremel tool.So I went to Auto Zone and bought some post shims and a cable.First time ever using them .They are a super tight fit.Battery is almost 4 years old.Still good. Thomas Perkins
Now sense the negative post has a shim on it.I will loosen both 11 mm bolts and remove the cable to disconnect power from battery than taking the terminal off. Quote Link to comment

DwayneOxford
Never knew such existed either. I stopped having that trouble LONG ago. Learned as a youngster from old friend who had one battery and several machines. Just adjusted clamp to fit post tight when he pushed down and twisted. All's needed to get it off is slip joint pliers adjusted big to twist and pull up with. The surface contact is all that's needed for function, doesn't need to be stupid tight. Quote Link to comment
Thomas Perkins
As we know the negative post is smaller. But all battery cables are the same size which means you have to about tighten it way more than the positive one.Sometimes you run out of room. Quote Link to comment

Yup, I've took bolt out and filed out more space many times. Quote Link to comment
Thomas Perkins
Who ever came up with that idea of making the negative post smaller needs to answer to President Trump. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
It so you can't put the cables on backwards. 1 Quote Link to comment
Thomas Perkins
When you buy a 2 pack. They are both the same size. Then you end up tightening the negative all the way then it is not any good when you take it off a few times. One size does not fit all.I bought a stock negative one for my wifes lincoln ls and it fits perfect. Both are made to fit just one side. Her positive one will only fit the positive side. Here is what her's looks like. Here positive one is original and the one in the picture is a Ford motor craft brand that I recently bought and put on.I will get one and put on my battery when this one dies.It fits the negative side perfect.
