andybobandy
Hey all, I've been having issues with my 1986 nissan 720 shutting off after a tiny bit. The idle is clean, weber carb cleaned up, new gaskets and spark plugs. It sits at about 1000rpms or so, very clean idle speed no misfires, but it turns off after idling for about 15 seconds. Is this a vacuum related issue? I took it in once to get it inspected and they said they plugged up some vacuum leaks but it hasn't run the same ever since. If you hold it at about 2k rpms you can drive it but the idle fluttering out is annoying and I can't just let it sit. Someone please help Quote Link to comment
Hankford
I'm just commenting to get this to the top of the post list. Good luck. This type of troubleshooting is not my strong suit. Quote Link to comment
Stinky
It sorta sounds like a vacuum leak. How does it run once you get going? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
So this happens mostly at idle?? Does it restart immediately or do you have to wait and let it cool off? Quote Link to comment
andybobandy
It happens every start. I idle for about 15-20 seconds and it sputters out. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Oh, start up when cold???? That's different. Is the choke plate closed or partly closed??? Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
On the next cold start up, take the top off the air filter and have someone step on the gas. This releases the choke interlock and the choke plate should snap fully closed. Does it? Quote Link to comment
