Thomas Perkins
Happy Friday ya'll.I am looking for the black piece that is inside the fuel door that keeps the door shut.I want a spare. As you see in my picture. One of the Black rubber bumper is missing.Nissan still sells them.I just ordered 2 from a Nissan Dealer on Ebay.I looked on Nissan parts deal.com at the pictures and cant find that black piece with number.I did replace the piece that goes into it long ago and have a brand new Nissan one as a spare. So if anyone has the part number and name of it to that black plastic piece, let me know. What I have circled? Thomas Perkins
Nissan is very funny on there parts. They change the part numbers then they say they dont fit your year. The rubber bumper for the gas opening has changed to another part number and is listed just for 80-83.So if you go hunt for the 85 one.It is not listed. Some other sites that sell them say for 80-88.The Nissan site on Ebay that I just bought from had me send them my vin number to make sure they fit. They sent a message saying that the the old part number that is replaced by the new part number has been discontinued.I never found a part number for the 84-85 ones in the Nissan part deal.com.He asked if I wanted to cancel the order.I told him no.Lots of times, when I order parts from a Nissan part seller on Ebay and I give them my Nissan year and it may say not for my 720 and I ordered it and it is made for it.He said it was for a 85 Stanza.Nobody can find the black clip that holds the door shut.May be under 83.I will look. Here is the Nissan message...The part you ordered is incorrect for the VIN# provided, these are made for 1985 Stanza sedan and hatchback. The correct part # you need is discontinued. Please let us know if you want us to ship out the part you ordered. If not, please cancel the order and we will approve cancellation. Hankford
New here and assuming I shouldn't post links to outside websites. I believe this is generally what you want, although it's not Nissan. I used CK's hood prop for a while and thought it was great. Here's a source for a Nissan bumper. 3 Quote Link to comment

DwayneOxford
Grok sez; What is the Nissan part number for the fuel door clip on a 1985 Nissan 720 truck? Searching the web 70 results The Nissan part number for the fuel door (also called fuel filler lid or gas door) clip on a 1985 Nissan 720 pickup is not directly listed as a separate OEM component in available parts catalogs.Nissan parts sites (like NissanPartsDeal.com and similar dealers) have sections for fuel tank, fuel piping, body side/rear panels, and even specific "fuel door" searches for the 720 series (1980-1986 models), but no dedicated clip, hinge spring, or retainer is shown as a standalone replaceable part. The fuel door assembly itself may be available in some catalogs, but small components like clips or springs are often integrated or not sold separately for this older model. For older vehicles like the 720, such clips are commonly generic plastic retainers, torsion springs, or simple hinges that owners source from aftermarket suppliers, junkyards, or forums (e.g., Datsun/Nissan truck communities). Some owners modify with magnets or generic springs when the original breaks. If you're looking for a replacement, check eBay, RockAuto, or Nissan enthusiast forums for used OEM doors or compatible aftermarket clips. Providing a photo of the broken part could help identify a cross-compatible Nissan part from similar-era models. 1 Quote Link to comment

Doubt orig. ever fails. It's not stressed much. But spare is never bad. Quote Link to comment
Thomas Perkins
I had a friend riding with me years ago.I stopped to get some gas.He jumped out and decided to pump the gas.He broke the piece that goes into the black piece with the gas nozzel. It connects on the gas lid. with a metal clip holding it on.I was pissed but didn't say anything to him.So I bought 2 of them.I still have one in the Nissan box.Glad he didn't break the black piece. Thomas Perkins
Cant find.If you were to find it at a junk yard. You would need to get needle nose pliers and pinch it from the other side. From the back side so it wont break.Oh well.My look is over.At least I found the part number. datzenmike
78136 is a 'reference number' used to find the part number location. Can't find it before '85? 93877-80W00 is STRIKER ASSY-LOCK, GAS FILLER, FEMALE. (I guess the plastic part) 78840-80W00 is the LOCK ASSY, FILLER LID, MALE. ( I guess the metal rod part that fits?) Thomas Perkins
Some Nissan sites say they have parts and you buy it and then they tell you they dont.Nissan Parts deal is bad in doing that.I do have a extra male part in a Nissan box.Done replaced mine before cause a friend broke it.Nissan parts deal says they have thermostats but they don't and wont up grade the part page.Walmart has a terrible site when it comes to looking for something. You cant find Nissan 720, 82C thermostats no more.
