How to remove wiper switch - 71 510

My wiper switch is not working in my 71 510. I have a replacement switch to install. Do I need to remove the dashcap prior?

 

If anyone has suggested steps to best remove the old switch (the knob is already off) , I would appreciate the input.

You don't have to remove the dash cap. With the knob already off, the little plastic ring that sits behind the knob will unscrew.

You have to remove the the cluster bezel to get access for the nut that is holding the switch. Most times I’ve seen the contacts in the switch are dirty. You can rebuild sometimes. I’ll take it off your hands if you don’t want it lol
