Replacement body shells

Saw this yesterday and thought this might be a great option to save a 240Z (or others) from serious rust issues.

I'm sure it wouldn't be cheap but a complete body shell would eliminate so many hours spent dealing with rot that you'll never eliminate anyway.

The video I saw on YouTube wasn't thorough but did show the interior. Presenter stated he felt the metal was maybe a bit thin, but without knowing his point of reference (plus he didn't measure), we know that these bodies were thin sheet metal anyway. I tried to find the video but couldn't. Anyway, have a look.

I had the opportunity to see that in person and I wasn't really impressed. There was quite a lot of damage to the shell, I'm assuming it was from shipping, but if that's how their display looked I can't imagine what would show up at your house. Another thing that caught my eye, any part of the shell that had like a boxed in structure or a panel somewhat hidden behind another panel, didn't have any paint on it and was starting to rust. The worst part of it, they want $15,000 for each shell and you have to buy a minimum of 2. I don't know what the prices of 240z's are in your area, but around where I live you can get a pretty nice running and driving Z for $15,000. They did say they will start selling body panels in the future which might be something to look for.

They have individual body panels on their site for the Z.

 

Lots of other vehicles, including Toyota, VW, Land Rover and even the Bronco.
