Fred A
Hello All, new to the forum and thanks in advance for your help. I recently bought a 1980 Datsun 510 Wagon and I am in the process of getting it roadworthy. Can runs but has high idle. Looking at it there is a hose coming from the Venturi Vacuum Transducer that is disconnected. When I plug the hose it reduces the idle but still runs rough. According to the factory shop manual this hose goes to the Carburetor Venturi Vacuum, but I cannot find any open ports on the carburetor. Does anyone have an idea where this goes? Yes I know I can remove the smog equipment but I would rather not do that. I have a photo of it but not sure how to upload. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I would work on getting the idle correct. When warmed up take the top off the air filter and look. The choke plate should be vertical and fully open like this... Look on the base of the carburetor on the fender side. There should be 3 fittings with small hoses. The VVT should have two hoses to it. The top VVT hose should connect to the EGR valve and continue on to the middle hose fitting. The side or bottom hose on the VVT should go to the rear most of the 3 fittings on the carburetor. Fred A
Hi datzenmike, Thanks for the help. Not completely there but I think I have part of it solved. There is already a hose on the middle fitting, but according to the manual this should go to the air cleaner. So, I pull this hose off and connect it to the air cleaner, connect the VVT hose to the middle port and then figure out where the hose that's already on the air cleaner should go. Didn't want to leave you hanging without saying thank you. I'll keep you posted. Quote Link to comment
