hdjuyt5
So I used paint thinner on my long champs but there were some pretty damn stubborn spots so I ended up using a steel wire brush to get some things out. I didn't think of the consequences till after but I realized I could be damaging the wheel. I still have to sand it with a 400 etc to get a nice polish out of it. Am I really in that great of danger for wheel? I've heard it could be unbalanced now but can't I rebalance them? The wheels are my longchamps. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I don't think there's any danger of imbalance unless you knock a balance weight off. Aluminum is softer than steel so they will mark up. Sand blasting might be better. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
I've used a steel brush on my SSRs, but only lightly. The aluminum finish is pretty tough, although if you wore the metal down in one spot I could see if affecting the balance. That's what balance weights are for Long Champ XR4 on Datsun 1200 1 Quote Link to comment
