So I recently did a front strut swap from original 510 to 280ZX. Question is; Where is the best spot to reattach to 510's lower spring perches to? How far from the bottom of the strut?

Thanks

Depends on a lot of a factors, such as what springs you are using and what ride height you want and the inserts you used in the 280zx struts. Get a 50mm (or 2") split shaft collar and you can mount that on the strut and adjust where the cup sits easily. Most likely you want it for starters about where the original strut cups were and it is pretty easy to adjust later if you want (ignore the coilovers in the pic on my 510). I run the 280zx struts on my B210 also and the stock spot works just fine with a stock cup and mildly shortened springs.

Will that collar actually work? Seems sketchy. I guess I could use it as a test and adjust from there. Thanks 🙂

Collar works fine as long as you get a dual style. Been used by many other people successfully.

The ones I have were rated to hold 6,000 pounds or 3 tons each. That's almost  2 1/4 710s per wheel. Just for peace of mind, after I got them where I wanted, I MIG'd a small tack under each so no way they can slip down.
