Hit and run help ID fender of assailant.

Some jolly asshat took out my stone mailbox.  Left a piece of a fender.  I’m having fun hunting and thought I’d let you guys in on the fun.  Make and model if you know.  I’ve got my thoughts but I’ll keep them from poisoning yours.

The water stop is the concern of the municipality. Or should be, it not on your property but on the road allowance.

Subaru Forrester.  I found them about three blocks away with the car hidden in the back.  Giving them a chance to pay for it all before I press charges.  I almost wanted it to be an asshole, but it was a sweet single mom who did not seem out of sorts.  Also insurance was up to date.  

 

Glad I went hunting.  Cops were not going to do anything.

You should have started off as an asshole. They ran from you, hid the car and figured you wouldn't catch them. Just go straight to insurance and you'll get paid. Counting on her to pay after she ran ? Think about that for a minute. What charges can you press ? It's property damage, that's all. Cops aren't going to do anything especially if you waited to report it. Good luck.

Oh, insurance is paying.  They got called immediately.  I just spared her the fleeing the scene of criminal property damage charges.  Geico already paid the plumber and the rock wall will be repaired over the weekend possibly.  I was ready to be the asshole.  It's kinda my M.O.  but I had a prediction of what kinda dick did that and when she turned out to be the driver, I was caught off guard I admit.  I still kinda wonder if she's covering for someone, but from what I can tell she lives alone with her kid (toddler) and if she is covering for someone, I guess thats on her.  As long as I get covered.

I would have thrown the book at her. And it's simply because I'm a believer of true gender equality. I ain't going to let a woman off for doing something stupid driving because if she does stuff like that you know she does it on a regular basis. I'm not even being sexist, it's just the goddamn truth.

Probably texting while driving or half a dozen other distracted driving activities. We all do dumb things, at least I do. You could have asked her what if that was someone's kid waiting for the bus and not a mailbox? I am sure the impact rattled her cage and maybe she has learned something. You can only hope. She will be paying for it by increased premiums or at least the deductible. That will be painful for a single Mom.
