Joecar
Hello so after completing my steering components I’m still having slack in my wheel from an old gearbox. I was told it would be better off to just replace it instead of adjusting it since it’s very sensitive. Would 1986-1994 D21 steering box work on the 720s? Quote Link to comment
Draker
The adjustment is pretty simple. Jack up the front end, adjust the screw in a little, like 1/8 to a 1/4 turn at a time, tighten the lock nut. Move the steering wheel lock to lock. Make sure it's not binding or tightness in either direction. Put it on the ground and test drive. It's what the adjustment screw is for. Use it! 1 Quote Link to comment
Draker
It's possible though that if you adjust it, it'll still be sloppy in the middle of the range and good near the either lock, left or right. This is because the majority of driving is done in the middle of the gear range and that's where it gets worn out. If that's the case after adjustment, then it's time for a new box. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Was this a power steering? Do the test with the engine off. 1 Quote Link to comment
