Crusty320
My Datsun is a 65' L320, and it's been in the family since my great-grandpa bought it in Wenatchee. My great-grandpa owned an apple farm in Eastern Washington. He had it for nearly 20 years and put 30,000 miles on it. After those 20yrs, my dad turned 16 and wanted a car, and with my great-grandpa selling his apple farm, he gave my dad the truck at the time, it was the original cream color but could use a little patch-up on the paint, so he saved up some money and got it painted blue the same paint that is on there today, and because of that paint and the size of the truck we call it the smurf truck. my dad only drove it for about four years in high school and a little beyond that. The crazy part about this is he lived in downtown Renton, and for anyone who knows the area, it can get bad traffic. It has a higher crime rate, and my truck has never been in an accident and has only attempted to be broken into once, which occurred when my dad had it. After my dad drove the truck, it sat for 17 years until my cousin turned 16 and wanted the challenge of putting that thing back in working order; he completed overhauling the wiring, switching out the generator for an alternator, and putting a sound system in. Unfortunately, every gauge stopped working, and he could never figure out how to fix that or get parts, which is the same with me. Of course, following the pattern, he stopped driving the truck after 3 years, so in 2008, and that's when it was put in a barn and forgotten for 16 years till I wanted it. With the help of my dad and you guys on Ratsun, I got it running, threw a new carb on there, recast the radiator, freed the brakes up, got new cylinders, replaced both the master brake and clutch cylinders, replaced the clutch slave, relined the fuel tank fixed the E-brake, got a new throttle cable, and thanks to wayno replaced the wing window gaskets and one of the windows that the latch snapped off of. I appreciate all the help everyone has given me. Thank you, guys for helping me keep this truck alive. -Crusty320 2 Quote Link to comment
