Stoffregen Motorsports
Hi guys, I've got a client who is selling his 2001 Toyota 4Runner today on Bring a Trailer and the auction is going dismally, with very low bidding action. It is no reserve, so it is going to sell today. I fell horribly for the guy because he didn't really understand the ramifications of "no reserve", but I did offer to handle the auction for him, and he declined my services. Anyway, I figured I'd throw the listing up here. Details, in a nutshell, a fully capable rock crawler with custom front and rear axles, lockers, dual t-cases, link and coil front suspension, plus bumpers, winch, etc. He's got over $50k into it and the bid right now is only $9,600 with two hours left to go. Here's the magazine feature on the rig - https://www.motortrend.com/features/1503-2001-toyota-4runner-fore/ Here's a link to the auction -https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2001-toyota-4runner-89/?utm_source=Iterable&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=campaign_2560924 Quote Link to comment
Ooph!
I probably would have but I'm not prepared, I just bought those 3 project trucks and have others to send on down the road. It does seem to be a nice looking and well prepared 4runner. 1 Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
The magazine feature does not reflect it's current state. We've done some pretty extensive upgrades since the article was written. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Buy it and sell it back to him. 1 Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
I can't. If I lose, it looks like shill bidding. It would damage my reputation. 1 Quote Link to comment
Ooph!
Went for 25k, I did register but I dilly dallied as usual and didn't get a bid in 1 Quote Link to comment
Draker
well 25 is better than 9k. Sounds like he still took a loss unfortunately. 😞 1 Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
Yeah, not a great result. He needed take the bull by the horns and do some legwork to get the word out, and he really dropped the ball there. Not everyone knows how to auction their vehicle, which is why you should let someone do it for you. 3 Quote Link to comment
