Porsche meet Datsun, Datsun meet Porsche

Hello all!

 

Took a FS5W71B apart today. Found something I was not expecting. 

 

 

Synchros are weird color right? Well the are the steel band type kind of like the ones Porsche used on their 901 and 915.

Reverse half looks like BEEBANI's post on page 79 under Drivetrain, but 1 -4 look different.

 

Why they are there beats me, I do have a suspicion it was a previous shop doing, along with other fails that classify this as a hack job.

 

So objective of this post is to see what your guys' thoughts are on this. I would like to slap it back together and see how it rides but it was issues that need addressing.
