benzo
For the longest had wanted to make a cargo cover for the wagon. Had looked online for out of the box universal ones but no luck and pretty expensive for what might have worked. Didn't have time to check wrecking yards. Thinking of ways or ideas and came up with this. Didn't want to drill holes so found some 30lb pull strength coated magnets (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CW5ZVMF6?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1) with a threaded hole and used closet rods and holders. Could've used PVC pipe too but had some wood rod so went that route. An 8 foot rod is the perfect length to cut for a wagon. After measuring and mocking up went to a local upholstery shop ( Wally's) and bought some naugahyde and used some hot glue and furniture staples to hold one side in place and pulled and stretched and glued and stapled the other end. Upholstery shop was cool and asked me to bring in and they helped me sew a seam for strength so I can take some staples out and also they bound the edge to keep from fraying. I painted the bases black for a cleaner look and tested it all and it works! Could be cleaner or can be refined but liking it and was fun to do. Was looking at making it retractable like my other car and also if you wanted to make with metal that can totally work. What I like is it can be removed if needed and it does cover my tool box and storage bin and my son can fit inside. Haven't seen what other wagon owners have done so please share what you have done or if others are looking for an idea here you go! Edited November 10, 2024 by benzo 3 Quote Link to comment
