Fuel Sender Equivalent found

My friend with a 71 wagon was having trouble finding a new sending unit.

I gave him a link to Amazon where they sell a Datsun 720 sending unit. Turns out it's a drop in replacement. I think the ohm range is a little bit different but that is fixable with sufficient circuitry. But as far as fitment and sealing goes, it worked perfectly.

I found no difference between 620 and 720 senders and their readings. 620 tank with 720 dash read the same

The 720 / 620 (probably all Datsuns) are

10 ohms or less...... ....... FULL

25 ohms......................... 3/4

40 ohms......................... 1/2

56 ohms......................... 1/4

80 or more ohms........... EMPTY

I should imagine that getting an electrical device safety rated for use inside an gas tank is lengthy and expensive so once you have one, best to use it in all models and vary the float arm for different tanks.
