Nissan 720 won’t shut off

I have a Nissan 1985 720 that I ka24e swapped everything is good except that it won’t shut off with the ignition switch. I searched the forums and I came across a similar issue and someone recommended unplugging the charging signal(T connector on alternator) The truck shuts off and ignition switch works properly after unplugging t connector. I’m using  the original  z24 alternator and was wondering what is causing it to stay on when the connector is plugged in. Alternator was working fine and sat for a month(time it took me to swap engines) I’m going to test changing the alternator I have a hardbody one with it’s connector sitting around

I was wondering if I can be pointed to the right direction or if I just have a faulty alternator.

Do the gauges turn off with the ignition switch? They should and if they do then the ignition switch is workingh. Probably the alternator.

Everything worked good and as it should be with the t connector disconnected. I went ahead and replaced the alternator, alternator plug, oil pressure plug and extended the temp gauge since I hadn’t done it. The alternate was tested at autozone and passed which probably doesn’t mean anything.

The battery before doing everything read 13.something off and 15.something at idle. Which confirmed that it was overcharging.
now that I’ve done eveything it’s acting like it has a dead battery.
voltage reads 12.5

im going to check with another battery tomomorow I hope its just a battery and don’t need a different alternator

12.6 for a fully charged battery.

Yeah im going to re check and  I’m going to unplug the alternator wires tomorrow see if that changes anything. Probably also going throw in a battery I know for a fact is good. The one that is in my truck started leaking acid on top

A good sign the it's over charging. You don't want to ruin a good battery. Get a meter and see what the charge when running is.

Idk what was happening last night if the ground was loose or something but I connected everything up today and put in the same battery and started up now have working dash lights and charges at 14v. Also fixed my ignition switch not turning off the engine.

If your battery is over charging,Auto Zone and other Auto part stores will say it is good. Also it will kill your battery.Get another alternator, get a 60 amp one.All this happened to me.

Yeah I tested the ka one not the one that was overcharging. I installed the ka alternator  and it charges at 13.6 which seems a little low but better than the 15. Something the original alternator was giving out. Everything is good with the charging now but  my starter went out already.

It’s just the battery starts right up with a push to start or jumper cables
