SMOG a California 76 B210

Long story short.  My 76 B210 wants to pass smog.

I'm thinking of scrapping the original Hitachi Carb for a Weber 32/36.

Which one should I buy, Weber Carb Kit fits Nissan 210 310 B110 B210 1970-1982 w/ A12 A14 A15 k624 - Picture 1 of 1 from ebay.  Weber Carb Kit fits Nissan 210 310 B110 B210 1970-1982 w/ A12 A14 A15 k624

.

Thank you in advance for your opinion

Won't pass smog testing. It will fail the visual before it even gets to the testing. You can't replace anything but with exact same year part. You can't remove any of the smog or emissions components either, and putting that Weber on as pictured will remove the ATC or the Automatic Temperature Control in the original air filter.

Rebuild the original Hitachi and get it past smog testing. Afterwards swap the Weber on but keep the Hitachi for the next test. That's about all you can do to get around it.

OK, I failed smog and started putting in smaller carburetor jets, back in 2020, didn't help.  I'll put the factory setting sized jets back in.

My clutch wont hold pressure, I replaced the slave cylinder, and clutch master cylinder, and I can't get the Clutch to firm up, It won' bleed out air.  I've never had this problem before as the clutch would firm up no problem after a slave cylinder replacement.

Datsun Mike, glad you're still around, sporting a beautiful picture of your child.  Best

The master won't produce pressure.

Lets start here...

There should be a couple of mm free play on the pedal. Push down on it with your thumb. It should move about 1/16" before there is firmer resistance, Does it? The push rod on the booster has a threaded end with a lock not, a clevis and a pin holding it to the clutch pedal. Loosen lock nut, remove pin and disengage the pedal, turn the clevis in or out to set the play.

Disconnect the output on the master and pump the pedal.... does anything come out?????

Yes, I'll see bubbles in the catch cup and when I jump up and look in the reservoir it's empty, I'm looking forward to routing the bleed tube directly into the clutch reservoir.

I'm at work right now.

It's a given that after a half dozen pumps you have to check and refill the reservoir. IT HAS TO BE KEPT FULL. Or you will pump air into the system and have to start over again. Get and assistant to watch and keep topped up.

What Datsun Mike commented is what happened, CHECK out my pic's, now I know I have to start over, I did make a video.  Fluid leaves the reservoir and sucked in air, I do have little firmness at the end of the clutch pedal.  I refilled the reservoir, pumped the clutch slowly and didn't get any improvement in firmness.

Here's my set up at the Clutch Fluid Reservoir .. I didn't think the beginning level of fluid would be insufficient to effectively get all the air out.

Upon discovery of my mistake, I refilled the reservoir and pumped the clutch maybe 20 times, I could only get a little clutch firmness at the end of the pedal movement.  I left everything on Sunday open - 2 days ago - in the clutch line set up, thinking air might bubble out during my absence.  I have TWO DAYS to go before I can get back to B210.

It was fun working on the Datsun, thinking, discovering and sharing pic's with Ratsun.net  Thanks for keeping the site going.
