mike.lovell127
Apologies if this has been posted before, as I have not seen this exact issue. I have a question about turn signal wiring in my 78’ 620… Recently purchased the truck and am in the process of cleaning up bootleg wiring done by previous owner. The turn signals function properly, but the indicator light/beeper stays on constantly. Previous owner wired in a switch to cut power on and off to the turn signals to solve this issue, but its frustrating to flip a switch before using the turn signals each time, and having an extra switch is not ideal. Any suggestions on what might be causing the indicator light to beep constantly when the signals are not engaged? TIA Also this forum has helped me immensely in solving tons of other issues I have stumbled across this far with the truck, and I appreciate all the posts and answers that have been made. Shortbed
Not a solution! I might have a similar problem like you, asking you and following this thread for possible solution. No cut off switch though in my 620. Is your problem like a faint flicker for both light indicators when signals NOT engaged? Kind of consistent in pulsing? Does the symptom go away (or be very very very faint?) and come back when hitting the high beams? P.S. winter is coming Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
What beeper???? Normally there is nothing when the turn signals are used. Is this the key in the ignition warning buzzer or seat belt warning??? Quote Link to comment
mike.lovell127
Datzenmike, sorry, by beeper I meant the ticking noise of the turn signals. I solved my issue by getting rid of the wiring and switch set up that was done by the previous owner, and running a new wire that connects to an existing constant power source and leading that to the flasher relay. Will eventually buy a whole new harness and do all the wiring properly, but I have already blown way over the budget I wanted to, to get the truck to the point of just being solid for now. Shortbed, what was happening to me was a constant flash of the turn signal indicator lights as if my signals were activated even when they were not. Yet the turn signals still operated normally. The symptom never went away or dimmed/changed brightness. High beams never had any effect on the turn signal issue either. Was a super odd issue and to be honest, I kind of stumbled my way into finding a solution just by trial and error. I wish I had more info on what really was causing the issue. 1 Quote Link to comment
Shortbed
@mike.lovell127 Good deal. I'll probably try what you did when the weather is more forgiving. 1 Quote Link to comment
