bananahamuck
Bought a 82 dump bed 720 from an old friend and it was a total pile of rusted crap BUT i had a 1980 i got in a multi diesel truck buy, i got from one of my neighbors , that Chris "the renter" knew,, that had gotten to old , and was finally letting go of some of his land , and they were on property that he was selling.. It was an 1980 so as anyone that has had a 1980 ,, the hood does not lend itself to being parked for any length of time ,, and as usually happens, engine is solid . The 82 came without engine , and was going to install a low mileage 83 22e i got in a 220sx but Chris "the renter" found a 83 720 in a field that was free, and engine was pretty good so used that.. Dump originally was a 5 speeder but switched it to an automatic to make easier for hired help to drive. The 1980 was so much nicer i switched cabs ,, somehow all three trucks are titled so getting rid of extra parts should be real easy . Put a new master on it but haven't gotten rear wheel adapters off the switch out wheel cylinders so might have to cut off and use 12" wide wheels i have ,, here's a couple pics of progress so far I have had this thing since about July(?) but Juan-ear had to get his 59 1000 done, and it has had it's engine out more in a month than a drift car. Truck in field i used NapZ24 out of Engine getting stripped of its emissions to clean up a tiny bit the hand of doom By the looks of front camber even after motor tranny was installed .. I think the torsion bars seem to be cranked all the way up Please hold Edited September 17 by bananahamuck 3 Quote Link to comment

And they are pretty shrouded by that outer wheel mount, so i have no idea how you would ever torque evenly. i assume the lugs that bolt to inner rim have a long shaft ,, have no idea what kind of socket would get those off. bananahamuck
So if it matters whatsoever .. This little dumper is to replace these Large Marge bastards .. Blue Tundra has to be unhooked from dump trailer when in use and the 66 F350 is too tall for the de-viners at other in-laws warehouses ,, so have to use the Dump trailer . Pics or it didn't happen Not every truck can be a Ford ,,, but i'm trying Ringo,,, I'm trying real hard. A couple Datsun 411 and Ford pics out front of my warehouse ,,,, for science Since being away from my actual home since Sept 10th picking cranberries, i have resumed cleaning out my garage to fit the dumper in to get completely up and running Edited November 7 by bananahamuck 1 Quote Link to comment
Duncan
That's really cool. I imagine that would be really handy having a smaller dump truck, especially seeing where you live.. 1 Quote Link to comment

Well,,, my friend has a case c300 excavator sitting in his front yard, and i'm pretty sure he said he was going to Mexico for at least a week. I don't know if a reflective triangle would be enough to get on freeway with. But i'm sure if you hurried, you could dig a hole in one of the yards,, that used to be your neighbors ,, and pile 4-5 houses in it. You would have a very nice , elevated parking area done and done. . Edited November 15 by bananahamuck 1 Quote Link to comment

No they are stock lugs(not longer), but if you break the lugs off how will one get the broken lug out of the nut, you need everything to make these adapters work properly. Also all lugs are not the same size depending on the year, I have adapters for the 520/521/early 620, they are not the same as the late 620 adapters which have the 720 lug size/threads that I also have a set of, they used these adapters on the 520/521/620 Motorhomes, in 1985ish they moved onto normal type dually rims/axles. I also have a set of leaf springs for a 1979 Datsun 620 motorhome, they are heavier duty, 2 full length springs along with the normal leaf's that came in the 620 leaf packs I believe. bananahamuck
@wayno If you still have a later 720 style wheel adapters like mine. Do you think you could take a couple pics of the units spread out laying on floor?? I’m kinda Leary of taking mine apart since tires are good and as of now it’s not broken. . I can take photos of one, but it will be tomorrow or Monday before I can post them. There is not much to them, 6 custom nuts to hold the inside rim and adapter on, then 6 nuts to hold the outside rim on. 1 Quote Link to comment
wayno
It has been so long since I used one of these adapters I forgot what they looked like. I did not take them all apart, I took one of the special adapter anchor nuts apart/out, I forgot they were two piece. You put the inside rim on with the bottom pieces, then you put the adapter on, then you mount the outer rim on to the adapter as I recall. 1 Quote Link to comment
wayno
I myself got the dump bed I have for my 521 work truck from a 1986 Dually 720 cab/chassis truck, I thought I should mention that my dump assembly sat so long in one spot that the top side of both the hydraulic cylinders had rusted inside, it was not obvious at first(bed was empty), but the more I lifted the bed the more hydraulic fluid started leaking past the seals, I pulled both cylinders and took them apart, there was a lot of rust on the top side of both cylinders, I bought a large hone and honed the shit out of them before I put them back together, they felt smooth to my fingers inside both sides before I was happy. That said I talked to the guy I got all the stuff from that day; he told me he had had someone machine/install new much wider seals put in the piston shaft(had O-rings new), this is the only reason the cylinders still worked, the new seals were wider than the rust pits inside the cylinders on the top half, it does not leak that often, when it does leak it is very cold outside and it does not leak much/a lot. If your seals start leaking quit using them until you fix the issue, the tubes the seals slide in could be rusted inside. I use a true Nissan 720 dually axle and not adapters on my 521 work truck, my 1980 Datsun 720 has adapters I had made to use true dually rims, I have more than one extra dually axle, I like them because my flatbed surface is 29" from the ground, this meant I did not have to lift debris that high when shoveling wet moss into the flatbed like I did for 30 years. bananahamuck
I have been mostly away from home since about Sept 15th(?) so I can now finish up with this goofy shit . We were there so long this year repairing broken equipment, that my youngest have figured out how to open sliding door on wherehouse , so that became a challenge.. haha sent @wilfredmatias off with rest of the air conditioning parts that were last of the mess, today , so I have “officially” cleaned out the nightmare and dumper can be moved into garage to run the wiring to get running . Should be pretty easy We are talking of doing a cruise down to Beaverton to meet up . But it’s cold as hell . Anyways , pics tomorrow of me and FAT510 moving the stupid thing inside .
