Header bolts and big washers

Looking for some header bolts and thick washers for L20B thanks and have a blessed day

The bottom 4 stud washers are a special cone shape.

 

Look at it this way... the bottom 4 stud washers have to bridge across between the header and the intake flange and clamp both. The intake flange is 1/2" thick and headers are always thinner so the intake gets clamped properly and the header not so much and the gasket blows out. Some header flanges have spacers welded on to thicken the flange in this area so do the same.

 

You could carefully grind away the intake flange to the same thickness as the header flange. I'm told this is frowned on but it works. The intake is well supported by the top 4 bolts. I don't see a problem so you decide.

most headers suck better have a thick flange. and be straight. best to mill them sometimes

Round steel bar stock, cut into @ 3/8 or 1/2 inch thick. Then machine a step into them.

 

Or, weld a strip of steel square stock onto the header flange to make up the difference. Then you can use standard manifold washers.

So many vehicles use them. The nicest ones I've seen (quality) are the ones used on an MGB. They are larger though.

 

 

They even sell stepped washers for MGBs with headers. May work on a L motor.
