Matchbox Coil

I'm transplanting the L20B from a 720 into my 510. I'd also like use the matchbox dizzy that comes with it. From what I can tell, they recommend to use the matching coil, as well. But all the information I've read doesn't mention this other part (in the picture below) that looks like a small condenser. Do I need to use it also? How does it get wire in?

Not sure about that condenser, but I've always use MSD blaster coils (with MSD 6A, too) with the matchbox dizzys and have never had an issue. That goes for both L and A series engines.

It's likely a noise filter for radio.

I have no use whatever for MSD stuff. Over hyped and certainly over priced. Take it off and sell it and run the matchbox. You'll never notice the difference without it.

Coil must be 0.75 to 1.0 ohms for use with the matchbox to get the hotter spark. Any coil after '78 and through most of the '80s will do. My 710 coil had a crack in the tower. I pulled on from a dual coil 720 and they are the same.
