My '68 had the plastic plugs all over it where it was sprayed in. By mid '70s it was used engine oil. Many people, myself included would by a POS 'winter car' and park the good one. My first one was a $100 '55 chev Blue Flame six. Later a $150 '65 Pontiac (or PawnTicket as Garth would say) with bald winter tires. My 521 lasted 8 years in spite of Ontario winters. Onterrible.... I sure don't miss it. Oh yeah, My Niva was Zeibart'd (specifically with the wax-type stuff), and while it did still rust a bit I am confident in saying that's why that car still exists today, going off just how much of it I found inside cavities when fixing the rockers etc. And yup, salt is the enemy 😞 . Fluid Film has done me well with keeping stuff alive though, my winter daily Volvo 240 and the Niva have both been drenched in it this yr as usual (i don't like the Niva seeing salt but it does once in a while when the volvo is broken etc). 2 Quote Link to comment
