A guy named Rick Posted November 27, 2022 Report Share Posted November 27, 2022 Downloaded a whole FSM in 13 different files. Looking through, apparently fill plug for 5-speed is supposed to be on driver's side. Why is mine on the passenger side? Leads me to believe my transmission isn't original? I have the short 5-speed since I have a regular cab 2wd. The reverse sensor is on the passenger side nearby, and the speedometer cable hooks up on the driver's side. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike Posted November 27, 2022 Report Share Posted November 27, 2022 Fill bungs can be on either side of a 71B 4 or 5 speed but the 'shorty' like you have are on the right. If you look on this side there is a round boss cast into the side so the fill hole could be placed there. All gear switches and reverse are on the right side also.
